This saw looks okay for the $200 they’re asking. It’s listed in the Baton Rouge CL. I have no ties to this saw—this is just a heads up for area woodworkers who might have an interest.

Looks like a gem in the rough. I’m sure someone will buy it quickly and restore it. It reminds me of the 1947 Unisaw I had years ago. it was a workhorse and built like a tank.

The wings, fence, and handwheels are worth the asking price. Even if the motor is 3-phase, or has no motor at all, it’d be a decent deal.

After some thought, I called the person listing the Unisaw and am waiting to see if it’s still available. My wife and I are getting ready to renovate my old family home about 40 miles away from where we currently live, so I’ll need a second saw, at least during the renovations. Hope I’m not too late for the Unisaw. I’ll let the group know what I find out.

Somehow deals like that never pop up in my vicinity. Those saws are stable as heck, no vibrations at all.

agree, as long as the arbor and motor bearings are in tact and the arbor and motor pulleys are coplanar.

@toolie—The CL poster does say it runs, so if it’s still available, I am hopeful of its condition. I have found some online resources on what to check for on a used Unisaw. Honestly, as knotscott pointed out, it’s worth the $200 asking price just as a parts saw anyway.

No response from the seller. I suspect it’s already been sold and the listing hasn’t been removed yet.

Surprise, surprise, surprise (as Gomer Pyle would say)! The seller wrote me back this afternoon saying the saw was still available, is a 110V motor, it runs, and it comes with some old rusty blades. I wrote him back that I’ll take it. I’ll put some “before” pics up when I get it Friday. I might do a restoration blog on it.

I think I’m the beneificiary of a seller’s listing that didn’t describe in the title what he was really selling. It was listed as “Vintage Table Saw”.

You can put a “you suck” on layaway, Joe! It might turn out to be a money pit, but I pretty hype right now!

congrats on the find. i’d humbly suggest reviewing the FAQs here for what to check as those saws can become money pits in a real big hurry:

http://www.sawcenter.com/unisaw_faq.htm

i got mine for $40 in gas money, just to see what all the “old arn” unisaw hoopla was all about. put close to $600 into it, didn’t like the right tilt and sold it for a small profit, keeping my two emerson built contractor saws. you also might want to consult this video series for getting it mechanically and cosmetically up to par:

You suck. Run to the red stick and grab that saw.
