I just bought a used Grizzly 6” for 225 that’s a lot older than that one. I would liked to have paid less, but they don’t come along very often so I got it. I’m happy with what I paid. I would think they will come down some on that, especially if you guilt them about the tax. So, yes, I would think pretty good deal for about 275-300.

A decent deal without a doubt but I wouldn’t call it a homerun. Color scheme seems a bit off to me though. That isn’t their old school green and its def not the recent yellow.

Yea I think I’m going to pass on it. I felt the same way about the colors, I’ve never seen any powermatic machinery that color before which was kind of strange.

It appears that around 1990 Powermatic did sell a Taiwanese made 6” jointer. Even your serial number starts with a 90.
To me, it seems overpriced.

I have to collect sales tax! (from the CL posting)

that’s a first! who’s that seller kidding? sales tax on a person to person cash transaction? i guess anyone foolish enough to buy that unit at that price would also probably be foolish enough to pay the “required” sales tax.

I am sure I can find something better down the road when I have more space to put it and cash to spend. I know I kinda chuckled at the sales price comment also…I mean, REALLY? haha Being a stickler like that on a person to person transaction just turns me off on the sale.

I have to collect sales tax!
LMAO !! Who is he going to give the taxes he collects to ? City, State, Feds ?
Perhaps Taiwan where this thing came from ?
Asking too much money for it’s present condition , plus having to deal with the Bozo and his taxes.

“I have to collect sales tax! “

Perhaps he’s a second hand store, and he’s selling this thru his business. There’s a guy not far from where we lived in 10aSEE that (bought and ) sold used woodworking (and metalworking ) machinery. He advertises heavily on Craigslist and some of his ads dont really indicate that he’s not just some private citizen selling his old tablesaw. And yes, he collects tax on everything he sells.

You can always offer less for the PM and see…...the Ridgid ($300) and Rockwell in Longwell have potential for an offer too.

The in-feed and out-feed tables both will require some serious elbow grease to get back into a nice shiny surface on this one. Pass at this price. $200 more like it AFTER you hear it run.

If he is a bsns, then he collects State sales tax on his sales. Not hard to understand at all.
Maybe he is operating a pawn shop.

In Texas each homestead is essentially viewed as it’s own Independent constitutional entity, and therefore able to levy whatever taxes they see fit in order to keep the compound solvent. ;)

Maybe so, He would have good reason to charge sales tax then.

Welcome to Texas :)
