I turned a bowl out of a pine burl and it was full of pitch. I sanded using wet/dry sand paper using paint thinner to keep the pitch from clogging the papper. I sanded to 400 grit and now need help on what is the best finish to use on the bowl. The bowl has sat for a week and no new pitch has seeped out that I can feel but the wood still has a strong pitch smell. What finish would you guy use that will not react with the pitch. Thank you

Shellac. It will cover the smell and pitch won’t bleed through it.
