Not so rusty gold tool gloat coming !!!

While sitting quitely on my dock, quitely reading my book, my lovely wife strolls down and tells me she would like to go to lunch. I tell her go ahead and she of course tells me politely (yeah right !!!) that my presence is required. She sweetens the deal by telling me that we can look through antique stores when we are done. O.K. Now I’m up for that. In the quaint town of Cambridge, N.Y, there are several antique stores and barns that I have found good stuff in the past and that is where we are heading. Long story short after going through seveal stores and seeing nothing but some beat to death braces, we happened to stumble on a neat little place chuck full of stuff. The gentlemen asked me what I was looking for and I tell him old hand tools and he directs me to a display case full of handplanes and several other things. My eyes bug out…it is good stuff.

I select the items I’m interested in;
Stanley no. 4 1/2, Stanley no. 5, Stanley no. 5 1/2, Stanley no. 12 1/2, Stanley no. 112, Sargent VBM autoset 708, Hunboldt mortise plane…I think, Stanley Defiance chisel, Stanley hand drill, with bits, unknown perfect handle screwdriver, small turnscrew and an awl. So I ask how much and he tells me to make an offer, so I say $100 and he says $120 and they are all yours. What ??? No B.S., the whe deal for $120.

I live not far from Cambridge. I know some of the dealers up that way, but don’t ever see a pile like that. I have to ask where you found them?

Nice score.

Both where filled with all kinds of stuff…furniture, art etc etc. The guy stuff was in the barn. He has a couple sweet tool chest there also…one still full of tools.

It looks like you and UpstateNYDude are really finding the deals around there. I’ll be patient until my time comes.
