There have been no new selections in the Editor’s Choice section for 142 days, while we have seen more than a few that should qualify.
Has it gone the way of all flesh? As in, it’s now a dead idea?
Was it a good idea in the first place?

From Martin’s weblog: The projects will be selected by Debbie and myself and posted throughout the week. The goal is “on a daily basis”. Sometimes circumstances make this a challenge but we will do our best.

Sounds like a big job for 2 people. Maybe they need help. I am assuming that they are doing this voluntarily, perhaps life has slowed them down… It has for me, I haven’t been around the forums or even woodworking in months :(

To your question of it being a good idea – yes to recognize some outstanding work that may have slipped by the majority of viewers. No because two people hardly constitutes an impartial panel.

How about a “Viewers Choice” different than the most viewed as members would have to vote for a project.
I’m sure the overworked IT folks on the payroll could whip up a major site change like than in less time than it takes to dry shellac on a hot summer day….(did I spell IT right?)

Probably caused a hiccup in the force. Whiners and such…. or could be something else.

I really like the concept of recognizing a modicum of top-quality work that can get lost in the “Top 3” model. Maybe a voluntary panel made up of people like yourself that are willing to review projects on a weekly or monthly basis. Regular rotation of panel members would bring in a variety of different tastes and viewpoints.

Should there be qualifications for a panel/committee such as this? Maybe for the first one or two but after that it could be open to any woodworker as this is a community. Just as long as panel members stick to the spirit of the listing and keep jigs/workshop fixtures to a very select few.
