Nice looking stock… You ever make any runs further south i.e. St. Louis area? Thanks for sharing and best of luck with the run…

I assume that your basswood is all the good northern stuff for carving. Do you ever ship small pallets full to the southeast?

Hi Helluvawreck, The basswood was from Northern Minnesota. It would probably be fine for carving. E-mail me your address and I will send a sample in August. Rich

I’m going to PM you. I’m not going to make it this time, but I’m going to check to see what freight on a pallet might be and think on it. All that you would have to do would be willing to cut it maybe 42 inches long so it would fit on a pallet and ship it to me by truck. If you wouldn’t be willing to do that it wouldn’t work. I can get southern basswood locally but it’s not anywhere as good for carving. Right now I’m having to buy from people who sell basswood to woodcarvers on the internet but they charge way too much for it. I could probably buy several hundred feet at a time if it all worked out. Naturally I would pay you a reasonable handling charge.
Don’t worry about it right now and I will think on the logistics of it. It just may not be practical because of freight. However, I would think that a pllet shipped by truck would be cheaper than what UPS charges for smaller quantities.

Hey Rich
If you had any more pictures of those smaller walnut slabs, I’d still love to see them. Not sure if its too late or not to throw on the truck w/ the other.
