Topic tags/keywords: wynn filter cleaning

I have cleaned my Wynn filter twice this week by blowing air into it from the outside.

I have seen pictures where people have built a hand crank and flappers inside to knock the dust free.

What kind(s) of material is used for the flapper? How about how much contact it should have with the inside pleats?

I don’t have anything in mine yet and may never but I have thought about it. I think something pretty flexible like a mud flap or a rubber stair tread would work. I don’t think you want to much pressure on the filter cartridge so you don’t damage it. What are you thinking?

Heavy leather or rubber attached to a metal arm would work.

Is there a threaded rod or bolt through the center of the cartridge now to hold it down?

I have the Harbor Freight 2HP dust collector. I will need to put a threaded rod through the center of the cartridge to hold the flappers. I was planning on using a 1/4-20 threaded rod that I already have, unless there is a problem with it.

How big have you made your flappers?
Do you stagger them in a spiral?

add this to your DC to keep your cartridge filter cleaner longer:

if a pan isn’t available, use a thien baffle plate instead. reportedly works even better than the pan (vortex cone proxy). i have a jet canister atop my 50-850 and i rarely use the internal paddles.
