If a project is good enough to be in your Favorites, WHY not leave a comment?

Guilty as charged. Great idea. I’ll do better, I promise.

There simply is a group that likes to look and read but not comment. Glad they’re here, I would like them to talk more.

Everybody has their own reasons for commenting or not commenting. Whichever the case may be it all adds up to a good woodworking site.

It’s fine if you just look and read no complains about those guys, but if you add a project to your favorites at least say thanks to the guy who made the effort to make it, take photos, write about it and post it.

You have a reasonable point.

I am guilty of this as well. Apologies to all.
However, in my defense, I will often favorite a project, just because I want to go back at a later point to study it, which I may or may not do. I use it as much for bookmarking a project as anything. Projects fly by through here so fast and I don’t have the time to devote to them that I would like. There have been many times I will be working in the shop and remember someone else doing something similar. Searching after the fact is hit or miss at best.
For my own projects, I am pleased if people favorite it whether they comment or not.

I see your point also,
I could suggest to use your browsers bookmarks to do so, but on the other-hand the LJ’s favorites have a photo of the project for easy recognition.
True that projects fly so fast, and also don’t forget that the time zone is another reason to miss many of the ones you could like.

From time to time I go back through the old post. As I go through them I often see things I like so I favorite them. Even this brings that thread up to date so a simple comment wouldn’t hurt I guess.

I do try to mention the poster if I use his project though.

Yes, I’ve favourited a lot of projects only because they have some design or feature that I would like to incorporate into a project of my own. For instance I add this lamp to my favourites:
Click for details
I have no plan on copying it and I don’t really have too much to say about the lamp (even though it is a very nice lamp) but I liked the design over the shade and recently built something very similar into the side of an arbour that I built for my mom. That is why I favourite things but don’t necessarily comment.
