Topic tags/keywords: barn wood barnwood cedar

Had an interesting day this past Friday (June 28, 2013).

I have always wanted to get some barn wood to see what I can create with it. Driving around I would drool at all the old barns falling down and trying to remember where they were so I could get enough nerve to go back, knock on their door and see if I could get some.

Well while perusing Craigslist I came upon a listing for a barn demo. Getting up early Friday morning, I drove out and was the first one there. Had my pick and chose these because they were exposed to the morning East sun and I liked the patina better than the West side. Of course I baked while tearing down with the sun beating on me, but I think it was worth it.

So I ended up with 124 board feet of 1×10 cedar. At the going prices out here of $3 to $4 a board foot, that works out to a nice score of $372 to $496 worth of barn wood for FREE :)

Hope that paint doesn’t have any LEAD in the pigment!

Other than that possible problem, nice score.

Good Luck!
