When I first read about this swap, I barely knew what a marking gauge was. I was still using a 5mm mechanical pencil and a ruler. Since then, I’ve gotten a couple of marking gauges, and the pencil is relegated to note-taking.

Even though I didn’t participate in the swap, I have learned so much from viewing all the gauges that are being swapped that I’m ready to start designing and making some for myself.

So this is my way of saying to all the participants, thanks for the tons of practical lessons you gave this woodworker by participating in the swap. You’ve all contributed greatly to my woodworking knowledge, even though that wasn’t the intent of the swap.

Dang it! I did sorta invite that, didn’t I, Shane? I’m out of the shop travelling until mid-July, but I guess I better get a design or two settled so I’ve got something to dig into once I’m back in the saddle.

Way to hold my feet to the fire! :D

Join in the fun. Learning is what the swaps are about at least for me.

Well, I made my first marking gauge, based on the inspiration I got from the swap pictures and the challenge Shane extended.
