Topic tags/keywords: toy train competition

I entered my passenger train in a woodworking competition on Saturday. As it was 45 minutes and $20 worth of gas away, I decided to spend the day. It was fun watching the little ones and some adults reaction to the six foot long train and the terrific doll house furniture beside it.
Checking out the other entries I had very little expectation of winning any thing.
After the judging was done by the knowledgeable dealer reps, I walked around checking to see which entries had won. The first place on the doll house furniture was no surprise, but the first place ribbon on my train put me in total shock. I probably should not have driven home afterwards.
I do want to mention that this Home Depot and their employees did a fantastic job.

Awesome! Your trains always amaze and impress me. I have been motivated and the engine kit is sitting in the winter to-do pile…

I notice it held links to the Niagara clubs, how far from Buffalo are you Woody? I live about 45 minutes south-east of it but work near the airport…

Rich, I’m about an hour from Buffalo on the QEW, in Hamilton. Our club is about 30 minutes from Buffalo.

Mr Woody.. Being one of the few guys here that has actually seen your work up close, this comes as no surprise to me. Your work is always impeccable, and your choo choo is no exception. I only wish I had your talent.

Congratulations on your win… you deserve it.

Congratulations! That must have been a lovely surprise, although it’s no surprise to your fellow jocks that your work is ribbon worthy.
