This just popped up on my local craigslist.

Is the asking price fair? What should I offer if the tool is in great shape?

The picture seems to agree with the discription. HD sells this machine for $549.00

I saw one on feebay for over $800. Perhaps catering to markets without access?

Anyhoo, it seems like a fair deal, but you could perhaps make a sweeter one by offering $250 and seeing where it goes from there.

If you meet this planer and decide its a good deal at 350, (I’m thinking its a fair deal, but not necessarily a great deal) then go for it.

Also consider supply and demand in your area. My local Craigslist rarely sees jointers, and when they do come up, the owners tend to be very “proud” of them.

This one you get a disc sander and a lathe and save 200.00.
Maybe look around a little more.

Those mobile bases are about $60. If you don’t need to roll it around at home offer $300 without the base. That’s a fair deal.

I have seen a couple of these in my area. One was new in the box at $375, the other was used at $350. Given that I probably would offer less. If I were you I would feel pretty good if I got it at $300-$325.

Have your say...
