I love vintage woodworking hand tools. For me there is a lot of satisfaction in owning and using tools that still function well after the passage of many years. I greatly admire the patina that well cared for old tools acquire – wood and metal surfaces that have grown lovely through long time handling and use. I also have great fondness for the wonderful tool manufacturer’s catalogs and advertisements of yesteryear. Most of my tools are of 1920s and 1930s vintage, representing the favorite ones I used during my employment in the woodworking trade (1947-1950), later as a woodworking hobbyist and that I still use for home maintenance projects.

My #8C SW jointer is the most-fun, go-to,favorite in the till. Such a beast, but a precision tool as well. Lobe the heft.
