Does anyone in the Houston area know of any places like this? I’ve googled my arse off but haven’t found much, and these places don’t tend to not have much of a web presence anyway. I’d prefer if the place had rusting farm equipment out back and is run by a guy that wears overalls, but I’ll take whatever I can get. Thanks.

Good luck. I lived in Houston for 2 years and never found anything. Houston is to woodworking as Alaska is to Coconuts. I live in DFW now and it is a little better, but not much. Old America on the East coast is really the place to find old tools. I guess nobody wanted to pack their hand tools in the wagons in the 1840s.

Two guys in houston that could maybe help you – Clark Kellogg and Roger Deatherage

You can google them both and find them pretty easily. They are two highly skilled fine woodworkers in Houston. I visited both of their shops and they are both really nice guys.

If you ever have any questions about Houston woodworking, send me a message or an email. my email is davehburkett@gmail.com. I’d be more than happy to try to help you find stuff you need in Houston. No guarantees, but I can always try.
