I do a lot of onsite work and try to minimize the amount of tools I have to tote around as well as the amount of different machines in my shop.

So I was thinking when using my new Paulk workbench the other day, wouldnt it be nice if I could drop an oscillating spindle sander attached to a standard router insert? Just replace the router with a slower motor that oscillates and you could just use the typical sleeves that come with the insert for the different spindles.

Does anyone know a manufacturer that already does this? Figured it’d be a cheaper alternative that the $250-$450 spindle sanders out there.

Anywho, just was thinking that and figured I ask for thoughts or to see if its already been done.

I can’t help with your question but I paid a whole lot less for my oscillating spindle sander. Harbor freight model – $89 with coupon found in wood Magazine. I don’t have any complaints about it and…if you check around you will find several other models that look just like it only different paint, and more expensive.

I bet your work table is a hoot.
