I’ve an opportunity to get this planer, sight unseen, for $200. A guy’s selling it at my wifes place of work. I’ve read pretty great things about this planer (both here on LJ and on various other forums/reviews). Most places compare it to the comparable DeWalt planer, and most places give the nod to the DeWalt….however at this price point I feel like I’d be crazy to pass it up for $200 since I’m in the market for a planer anyway.

It appears that parts are still available for this model but I think it has been replaced by a newer version. I don’t see a reason to not own this and I don’t think you would be disappointed. Take a couple of boards and try it out. Buy it if you like the boards when they come off the table.

22-580 is a good planer…for @ 200 I’d go for it.

when popular WW (or maybe it was fine WW, always confuse those two) tested benchtop planers before the introduction of the DW 735, the 22-580 was rated top tool in that test. good 2 speed planer that was well regarded.
