The Patriot Woodworker site is now at-

www.thepatriotwoodworker.org

copy and paste the link to make it work??

Sorry about the non working link. Maybe LJ’s doesn’t support this type of URL?? It will work if you click, drag to highlight and copy and then paste into a new tab/window.

That link doesn’t work, for me, either.

Gene-
For some reason LJ’s site isn’t allowing the link I posted to direct you to the Patriot site. It does work if you copy and paste the link into your browser.

I wondered that myself, Mike.
Today, with a name like that, you have a mighty big bull’s eye on your back!

Bandit-
Try typing the web address in directly. Make sure you change .COM to .ORG

Got it! It was the switch to the ”.org” that was screwing things up.

So, now they are like the ‘PBS.org” of forums?

It works fine for me when I copy and paste it. Nice and interesting looking site.

According to John (site owner) when the .com name came up for renewal, it was snagged by someone else. Hence the .org.

Thank you ladies and gents for your patience as we work this out.
We had our domain renewal settings at auto renew, we have not had a problem since we became The Patriot Woodworker’s a couple years ago.
We spoke with our domain registration folks about it last night and they claimed that there are folks out there with software that targets particular domains they would like to have, and when the time for renewal comes up the software is constantly hitting that domain, and in a split second it purchases the domain from the hosting service.
Our auto renewal somehow was toggled to off. We have had it set to “ON” since we became The Patriot Woodworker. Since we never visit the DNS controls of our domain, it’s hard to imagine how the auto button was switched to off, we are confounded on this one.
We are trying now to contact the new owner of our domain, we do have her contact information. We are working a way to get our domain back. But we will most likely stay .org now. Adapt, improvise, and overcome!
After all, we are The Patriot Woodworkers!! :)
Proud supporters of the men and women who serve in our armed forces in the US and Canada. Performing outreach and philanthropic deeds for disabled veterans.
Thanks for the post Lew, and we apologize for any inconvenience. And a big thank you to Martin in advance if this post is allowed to stay live.

Looks like there should be a “time out” reserved for current domain holders to re-register in the normal way, before all of the “high frequency traders” of the Internet are allowed to predate upon legitimate organizations. There’s all that ’smaller gunnerment’ for ya’.
