Here you go. Clear old growth Doug fir is getting very hard to find even here in the Northwest. Be prepared to pay for it.

Papa – We just demolished a roof of a structure here in Newington that had a bunch of old growth. Building was 60 years old and from the rings ive counted the trees must be 120 years old. We salvaged all of it and is here in our yard. Its a mixture of 2bys, some hand hewn 3 bys, and some 6×6’s. Im currently using the 6bys as the stock for a work bench. Tight vertical grain. They do have a bit of a twist to them but no metal in them at all minus a few staples that we had to affix some poly to. They mill out to around 5×5 clean and straight. 9 footers. The balance is nominal lumber but of the same vintage. Must be 2000 board feet in the yard here. They’ve taken a bit of weather in the last month but are still in great shape. If your buddy is interested ill talk with the owner and make sure he’s good with selling them. Here’s a pic of the 6bys milled up.
