i just noticed the above TS on sears’ website:

http://www.sears.com/craftsman-1-2-hp-10inch-table-saw-or35505/p-00922114000P?prdNo=5&blockNo=5&blockType=G5

i was under the impression that all TSs sold to day were required to have riving knives and that splitters were no longer acceptable for new TS sales. if that’s true, how is sears able to sell this saw?

Unless I’m mistaken, it’s new old stock (NOS) that predates the UL requirements. You can still buy a new PM64a contractor saw too. Odds are good that the actual manufacturing date on these saws is fairly old by now.

thanks. just curious, were these the saws that were originally referred to as the “zip code” saws?

Yes…there was a 22104 with stamped steel wings, and the 22114 with cast iron wings that both had the aluminum fence, 3/4 enclosure, and a 1.5hp motor. Then there was the 22124 with a full enclosure, cast iron wings, the Commercial Biese fence, and 1-3/4hp motor. These were all made by Steel City/Orion, and were very similar to some of the SC models. The fence on the 22104 and the 22114 wasn’t great, but it worked. All had the big yoke style cabinet mounted trunnions, and enjoyed a pretty good following.
