Topic tags/keywords: scraps hardwood searching

I’ve been searching for local places that may have hardwood scraps to make display bases for some miniature artwork I do. I’m just looking for 1.5” – 2” cubes and larger (square or round) offcuts that people have been holding onto but can’t find a use for. Other than local cabinetmakers is there anything else I should be asking around at that you can think of?

Thanks for reading!

I work for lumber liquidators and our hardwood pallets have in strapped together with blocks of wood underneath these are approx 2-3” square and 40+ long. Mostly pine, but ive gotten oak, poplar, cherry, hickory, maple, as well as some exotic species. One of these pieces could probably make you a number of your displays!

If there is a woodworkers guild or club near you, most of us have small cutoffs you could use.
