Does anyone have experience using a Performax SuperMax 25 inch dual drum sander and a preJet 16-32 and have any insights if the Performax SuperMax 25 dual drum sander is noticeably better? I have an opportunity to get a little used Performax SuperMax 25 dual drum sander for $1000, maybe less. Thanks |

properly set up a super max 25×2 is a superior machine. It can be used for dimensioning lumber the same a planer just not as fast. Parts for repair are readily available. The major things to look at are : main motor should be a 5hp, and the speed controler / feed motor. The 5hp can be bought anywhere, but the controler/feed motor are over $600 if they need replaced, and can only be bought through performax. I needed a feed motor for the one I had so I called leason and they refused to sell me a replacement. They said they had them, but it could only be bought through performax. also it has a bastard spline so it has to be their parts. My solution was to have my neighbor rebuild it for me. I end up selling it because it took a large footprint 4’x4’. If you are in need it is a great machine to have. |
