I got a request from a potential client for a pair if walnut Maloof rockers to be used on a covered porch outside. I need help with a durable finish that will withstand the elements. I use a traditional Maloof finish of poly, tung oil, & BLO, will this work or should I use more of a varnish?

I am not a finishing expert but I would guess a marine varnish (oil with UV absorbers added). Linseed oil is susceptible to mildew growth as the mildew feeds on the fatty acids in the oil so don’t use that. If you go with a marine varnish remember the finish will deteriorate over time and will need to be touched up. I would think being under a covered porch it will last much longer than being left out in all the elements. Good luck I hope someone with more knowledge answers you but I thought this would at lest get you heading in the right direction.
