I bought a used 2 1/4 hp triton router i can’t get a half inch router bit to go into the collet. Anyone else have this problem. It looks like the 1/2 inch collets is part of the shaft of the router is this true or should the collet pull out as a separate part? Help !!!!!!!

If you don’t have an owners manual, you can probably download one from Tritons website. Should
tell you everything you need to know.

I have the same router and I sometimes have to take the collet out to get some router bits in .The collet should just unscrew like any router.

I lightly tapped on the side of the collet with the wrench and came out easily.

Some routers (like my Freud) have a design that requires more “release” when removing and installing a bit.
Had me squirrely until I figgered it out.
Ya might wanna try loosening the collet more than ya think is necessary.
Let us know how ya come out.
