Does anyone have any experience with this Shop Fox brand tools. Specificaly their cabinet saw. The pictures and product details make it look like a good unit.

I’ve got a Shop Fox W1677 bought new in 2008 that’s essentially a Grizzly G1023SL in white paint with twice the warranty. Fine saw for a hobbyist. Shop Fox and Grizzly are owned by the same person. In some cases the tools are identical or very similar….others are not, so you need to research each independently. IMO overall its a reputable brand….not top of the line, but on par with other decent Asian imports in most cases (Jet, GI, Griz, Rikon, some PM, Steel City, etc.).

Correct me if I am wrong, but Shop Fox is the brand that grizzly sells to retail outlets. They are usually just slightly different. Sometimes have some increased capcity over its Grizzly counterpart. They are also more expensive than Grizzly. The advantage I can see to shop fox over grizzly is, if you buy a Shop fox locally you can make sure it is in good shape from shipping. I, and several friends had problems with damage during shipment from Grizzly.
I have heard that they have adressed that with the way they pack, but I had a bad experience 15 years ago and have elected to not buy them any more…..although they have some very resonably priced metal lathes….hmmm…...

yeah – pretty much the same as Grizzly nowadays.

I have a Shop Fox shaper, bought used. It’s a good
machine value wise. Fence is kind of kludgy.

I have a shop full of Shop Fox equipment and in most cases very happy with it. I’ve had everything at lease five years and have never had any problems. One issue is the wheels on the bandsaw are a little out of balance, but a little of my time would fix that, I’m just not a big bandsaw user, I only have it for the occasional use. Also I wouldn’t bother with the 1hp shaper or the portable dust collectors. Overall I’m very pleased with the larger pieces of equipment.

I also have a Grizzly oscillating edge sander that is very good. Powermatic is always a good choice (IMO), I have a PM66 cabinet saw and a PM2800 drill press, although Powermatic costs $$$$$.

Shop Fox Equipment List:
W1711 cabinet saw 5hp 1ph
W1741 8” Jointer
W1742 15” planer
W1686 oscillating spindle sander (love this machine)
W1706 14” bandsaw
W1701 1hp shaper
W1690 ceiling mount air cleaner
(2) W1735 portable dust collectors
