Hello All

I am a newbie to all of this but have caught the bug. It’s amazing how it takes over your life. Can anybody tell me what I have found. I found four 8ft lengths of this stuff with a flame running right through them. Beautiful. The flame keeps getting brighter every day.

I know that in the US a simalar type is called flamed box elder. I have not come across any in the uk.

I have updated the origional picture

Looks kinda like cypress.

My first thought was Douglas Fir. One sure way to know is cut it. DF has a very bad smell to it when worked.

Some sort of cedar.
This is cedar of Lebanon.

Should be easy to tell if you cut a piece and smell it.

Could be cypress too.
