my neighbor is an owner operator truck driver and sometimes brings home some pallet wood for me, knowing I am looking for some exotics. He mostly hauls containers so many things come from overseas.
mostly its usually some red oak or sometimes walnut but he dropped these 2 pieces off at my place the other day, and one is not domestic I am pretty sure the other might be red oak but the coloring and grain is odd. my phone takes some rather crappy pics though. i am not expert in wood ID so I am seeing if others may be able to ID.
the shavings off this one remind me of red velvet cake in coloring, there is a mix of some darker colors streaked in it though.
and this one the grain points me to oak but the color is striated from chocolate to vanilla in color, kinda like walnut with heartwood.
