Finishing sapele- poly/pumice/rottenstone?

I’m nearing the end of my poly coats, yet i still see grain, where as the surface isn’t flat compred to the maple.

I think I’ve read where you can use pumice/rottenstone to fill the pores?

What is the process for this exactly?

I’m almost certain that pore/grain fillers should be used BEFORE application of any topcoat. At least that’s how I always do it. Charles Neil would be your best source of information. Send him a PM.

Thank you. I applied another coat tonight, about 5 now. Looks as though the grain is just about filled. I think one more coat may do it (I hope) If not, i’ll live with it and make it a satin finish as opposed to gloss.
