Topic tags/keywords: jointer craigs list

I posted earlier that I was looking at a $125 1977 craftsman 6” Jointer. But about a day before I went to look at it I ran into an CL ad for a $150 6” Ridgid Jointer about 6 years old. I paid the full amount and got the manual and 3 sets of blades.

This seems to sell for $550 new, it seems like a steal to me, let me know what you think. Its my first jointer and seems to work great.

Looks like a good deal to me. Used 6in jointers come up quite a bit and bargains can be had. Congrats.

I have the same one, although mine has the grey base and supposedly has a USA made motor. Mine was $200 new in the box from a divorced guy who lost his storage space. I like it and the tables were nicely aligned right out of the box. Congrats!

+1 on real good deal. it’s a good little jointer and like dhazelton, i have a gray colored, made in the usa by emerson electric unt. the only downside to a CL buy on that jointer is that it’s not LSA eligible. apart from that, it rates a “you suck”.

BTW when wood magazine comparison tested 6” jointers a few years back , although a griz was the top tool, the ridgid was the top value unit.

you suck. I’d have paid more than that, but deals like that don’t seem to pop up in my area

I got really lucky on it. The guy I got it from said he got eight offers on it, I was just luck to be first.

Wow, pretty awesome deal. I’ve been looking around CL for one of those for a while. About 6 months ago you could find them pretty easily for $250-$300, which is an okay deal. That’s about what it’s worth, but the people selling probably got it for that price or thereabouts. You, on the other hand, found a pretty smoking deal.

For some reason, recently in the Atlanta area, I haven’t been able to find them for less than $450. Currently there’s a guy that wants $575 for his!!

Congrads on the new jointer. I have the same one and loved it. I also picked it up used but I paid $275.00 which I still think is a great deal for this jointer. I bought 2 sets of knives from Amazon to replace the original ones. They are the Freud knives and I paid $22.00 for each set. You only paid $150.00 for the jointer so I think it justifies spending another $300.00 for a spiral cutter, that would be Sweet!

I have the same jointer and you did very well. I love mine, but I wish I had an 8” for the rough cut.

Call the cops… You stole it!

I had an earlier version of that machine, and it really worked well. Use it in good health!
