I posted earlier that I was looking at a $125 1977 craftsman 6” Jointer. But about a day before I went to look at it I ran into an CL ad for a $150 6” Ridgid Jointer about 6 years old. I paid the full amount and got the manual and 3 sets of blades.

This seems to sell for $550 new, it seems like a steal to me, let me know what you think. Its my first jointer and seems to work great.

Looks like a good deal to me. Used 6in jointers come up quite a bit and bargains can be had. Congrats.

I have the same one, although mine has the grey base and supposedly has a USA made motor. Mine was $200 new in the box from a divorced guy who lost his storage space. I like it and the tables were nicely aligned right out of the box. Congrats!

+1 on real good deal. it’s a good little jointer and like dhazelton, i have a gray colored, made in the usa by emerson electric unt. the only downside to a CL buy on that jointer is that it’s not LSA eligible. apart from that, it rates a “you suck”.

BTW when wood magazine comparison tested 6” jointers a few years back , although a griz was the top tool, the ridgid was the top value unit.

I got really lucky on it. The guy I got it from said he got eight offers on it, I was just luck to be first.

Wow, pretty awesome deal. I’ve been looking around CL for one of those for a while. About 6 months ago you could find them pretty easily for $250-$300, which is an okay deal. That’s about what it’s worth, but the people selling probably got it for that price or thereabouts. You, on the other hand, found a pretty smoking deal.

For some reason, recently in the Atlanta area, I haven’t been able to find them for less than $450. Currently there’s a guy that wants $575 for his!!

Congrads on the new jointer. I have the same one and loved it. I also picked it up used but I paid $275.00 which I still think is a great deal for this jointer. I bought 2 sets of knives from Amazon to replace the original ones. They are the Freud knives and I paid $22.00 for each set. You only paid $150.00 for the jointer so I think it justifies spending another $300.00 for a spiral cutter, that would be Sweet!

I have the same jointer and you did very well. I love mine, but I wish I had an 8” for the rough cut.
