Just thought i’d share my latest creation, after junking out my band saw’s factory electric motor (twice), i decided to upgrade. Picked up a US Motors 1hp farm duty motor, and after engineering an adapter plate from some MDF i had and bolting it down, she doesn’t do to bad :). Now if i could just keep blades on this thing i’d be in good shape, just put on a brand new $30 blade and junked it out in less then 3”s, dang screw with a busted head in the board. Guess its back to the cheap olson blades

I just put Olson blades on my small BS and was pleasantly surprised with their performance. And Woodcraft has them on sale for cheap until the end of May.

I had never used anything but T Wolf and Sterling blades on my big saw but these Olsons are good on my 14”.

Nice repair the brand specific motors are the reason I went for the HF BS. Bearings, tires, motor, heck almost all of it can be repaired with generic parts. This is the major thing I look for when I buy a machine is serviceability.

until i had to replace this motor i had no idea bandsaws were so upgrade-able, except for porter cable. no one makes anything aftermarket for them, that will make a difference in my future power tool purchases now.
