I’m making a frame to go around a TV that is hanging on the wall at a business. The TV is up high near the entrance door so the business owner wants to hide the wires and hardware behind it as well as make it a little more difficult to steal. It’s a new LED TV. The face of the TV sticks out about 5” from the wall. So I want to make a complete box around the TV and then put a frame on the box to look similar to a picture frame.

So the question; I want to leave as little space as possible between the TV and the frame. I don’t want a large gap. Will that be a problem with a newer LED tv for air circulation behind the TV? I know LEDs don’t get very hot, but I don’t know if these newer TV’s need any kind of air circulation behind them. I could always drill air vent holes if I had to, but I’d rather not. Any TV experts out there?

110 views and no replies? I’m guessing there are no TV experts on here. I did some Google searches and there appears to be a lot of people that think they know the answers but I found about an equal number of answers in either direction. I think I’ll get the make off the TV and see if I can call the manufacturer and get and hopefully get an answer from them.

Leave the top of the “box” open. The heat will rise and as long as you don’t make it airtight to the wall there should be enough air flow to keep things cool.

Thanks Herb, didn’t even think of that but that is a good idea. Think I’ll do just that.
