Topic tags/keywords: bandsaw rockwell delta advice

Hi Everyone,

New to Lumberjocks, and looking for some advice on a Craigslist bandsaw. I have Skil 9” but need more resaw capacity and came across this Rockwell/Delta that I am not familiar with for $150. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated. Was going to pull the trigger on a Reliant 14” for $120 but I found too many non favorable reviews on that brand even though it is in pristine condition. Hence my dilemma, thanks for the advice.

IMHO, run, don’t walk, to the seller. NOW!! (assuming it checks out mechanically)

I have the same saw, I bought it used for about $250 about 15 years ago. It’s a good saw, I have never had a problem with it. It is a little under powered, mine is only 1/2 hp but it does most things well. The one in the picture is missing a steel box over the belt. I would buy it.

You could make a belt guard pretty easily. I’d be on that like white on rice in a heartbeat.

Like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm …. to add to joe’s post. Looks like a great bandsaw. They’re not really intricate machines so as long as the power is there in the motor, the trunnions are in good shape, and the wheels aren’t cracked id jump on it.

Good saw, and if it is underpowered, with that set up you can put a more powerful motor on it easily.

What are you wasting your time reading these postings for when you should be out picking up your new to you saw?

UPDATE
Thanks again for the opinions, picked this up for the asking price. That included SIX woodslicer blades of various tooth counts/sizes. 2 very well built jigs and very nice mobile base. Needless to say i’m VERY happy with the $150 investment as the saw is in excellent condition.

Thanks LJ’s!!
