After my Father-in-law came down for Christmas with 7 stitches in his finger. The blade got him. My wife gave the blessing for me to get a Sawstop for my birthday.

I am setting up the saw, dust collection, 220V contactors, etc and I have removed the laminate wood extension board to install my cast iron router wing at its location.
I’ll call Sawstop tomorrow, but I though of something.

Will the increase mass of the router wing interfere with the flesh sensing technology.
To my knowledge it should not. The electronics do a test of the mass when the system is turned on. That establishes a constant. The blade brake fires when that constant changes.

Does anyone have an additional cast iron wing on their Sawstop.

I installed the BenchDog cast iron router table extension in my SS. No issues and the safety feature still works as I have fired it once with a wet piece of wood but that was my mistake, I forgot to cut the safety off as I was in a hurry. It was right after I bought it as an upgrade to my old Craftsman TS and did not even think about turning it off.

I love mine and having the router table extension is a huge plus.

I have an MLCS cast iron version in a 52 inch table. Works great.

ZZZZDoc, I own a Grizzly, G0691 TS with the right wing extension and am considering a MLCS 16×27 CI router extension to replace to 10” left wing. I have room for the extra length and my current railes should accept the length difference. The dust collection is under the right extension and I recognize the fact that in most cases I’ll need ti lower the routre bit below the extension top when using the TS. Are there any considerations I should be aware of or negatives to a left mounted extension? And what Fence (split) do you incorporate? The MLCS router fence??
