Topic tags/keywords: question

A couple weeks ago I posted a post about 200 new members in a day ,it looks like they have upped the count with 50 new members in an hour. There where lots of good suggestions on that post http://lumberjocks.com/topics/49088
but I guess none of them worked or have been implemented. I guess it’s a hard thing to get a handle on ?

Yep,

On a smaller note, I have some folks on facebook, and I keep getting email in their name. I run my mouse curser over it and see it is not them. Even though I block and bounce. They keep coming back.

Jim there are people who believe it’s “the thing to do.” Not a moral thing, just a challenge?

Even to the point of shutting down the internet?

Gonna go play in the shop!

Not going to watch this as it fills up my mailbox. good luck!

well, good thing someone is keeping track.

by the way – it’s not people making those new accounts, so the number of new accounts per hour isn’t really a factor, it could easily be 1000

At the end of the day, they do this because it works, for some definition of works. If it weren’t for the morons that see obvious spam postings and still click the links anyways, we wouldn’t have to deal with it. The solution isn’t captchas or whatever other filtering mechanisms Martin might try; It’s smarter people, smarter users.

Jim if you are looking for a foreign bride stop wasting time with the spammers! I have contacts in Eastern Europe that can set you up with the real deal. (LAUGHING)

Kreegan—Smart people on the internet is your solution? That’s funny.

Jim, I really don’t think the admins are that concerned about it.

In view of the above, I have to extend fantabulous kudo’s to the site owners ! As a regular Lumberjock member, I commend and fully appreciate whatever is being done to prevent spammers from infiltrating the forums. My concern is the discussions within the forums and not how many false or real new users register.

You are keeping the spammers out of the forums. Keep up, administrators, what you’ve been doing—it’s working.
