So my sister decided to marry here in Hawaii, gave us all one year notice and we are all now hanging out in Waikiki. This is my 4th visit to Honolulu because of my Navy days. Not much has changed since my last visit 8 years ago. It is a really neat experience for my 7 and 5 year old daughter, and also my wife. The time change has affected us as we woke up at 4 am and began our fun day, now that it us just a little past 1 pm we are beginning to feel tired, plus yesterday we spent about 13 hours of travel time.

Well, I have always enjoyed the Hawaiian land scape and look forward to the many new experiences my wife and daughters will have. With the wedding a good portion of our vacation is planned, but I hope to show my family some of the base, maybe show off some of the berthings I called home, visit the USS Arizona and tour the peremiter of the island seeing some of the worlds prettiest beach fronts.

Having been a sailor, I have been able to experience a lot of awesome destinations, so I hope to let my family taste some cultured travel as I have.

Glad to hear you’re having a good time. I was in the AF, stationed up “in the hills” at Wheeler for 4 years. Tuff job, but somebody had to do it.

What is “in the hills”, not sure if that sounds fun. Navy had some hard work and tough times, but very rewarding! Walked the main streets near Waikiki today and did the tojrist shopping. Tomorrow some history lessons for my family and hope they enjoy and learn.

Jerry have a great time. I first lived there in ‘52 when my Marine dad was stationed MCAS Kaneohe , lived there the second time he was with a Marine squadron out of NAS Barber's Point. We lived Eva beach and rode bikes to fish off the pier at the Rifle Range. Back in those days you drove “up and over” the Pali because there was no tunnel, no freeways, etc. Great place to live as a kid. Last time I was there was in ‘81 when I was traveling from Okinawa back to Calif. for a funeral. I didn’t recognize anything! The green valleys I remembered were all loaded with condos!
