Here is a nice vintage A. Mathieson and Son skew angle, wedge arm, rebate (or rabbet) plane. Made of lovely solid european beech, with terrific boxwood boxing. The plane is in fantastic condition with no cracks, breaks or repairs. There are a few user names stamped, and some dents from blade removal on the rear. The fence has a lovely profile, and I believe that all four wedges are original. The plane has been cleaned and waxed, but I will let the new owner determine whether to display this tool or sharpen it up for use. There is some pitting to both the skew angle blade and the nicker. The brass has lovely gentle patina, as does the wood. The depth adjustment fence moves freely. There isn't much more you could expect from a plane of this vintage. My best estimation is that this plane dates from sometime between 1858, when Mathieson expanded into Edinburgh, and 1899, when they started numbering the front of their planes and called the company A. Mathieson and sons, instead of son.
This is a lovely plane for any collection. I am asking $225 for this plane.
