I have various cutoffs of madrone, live oak , black oak, blue oak, sycamore, valley oak, that would make nice turning stock. I have no idea how to price these chunks but if anyone is interested give me a shout- Rob

Sorry, no camera, we will try to get one soon- The cutoffs range from 12 to 20 in diameter and 16 to 37 in length. I just bought all of the hardwoods from a local state park that burned up last year and will be milling for the next couple of months steady. It is the best looking material I’ve seen for this area-

I might be interested in bowl blanks of madrone and sycamore. You could probably get quite a few into a ups flat rate box. I just got into turning and these might be a fun woods to try.

Hi Bill, just checked with the local UPS gal – no flat rate boxes. Called the local PO and I can get a 12×12x5.5 in flat rate box for $12.95. So at the box cost plus wood block cost you are at about $24 total. Do you have a bandsaw that will divide-up a 12×12x5.5 inch cant?

If the wood is not kiln dried or over many years air dried it might not be suitable for immediate turning /woodwrking . just a point to note you don’t want a lot of after sales complaints about checking best of luck. It’s another one of those cases when I wish I was your neighbour.Alistair

Will you be sealing the madrone in AnchorSeal or similar? It moves a lot and has a tendency to warp and split if you don’t. Turning green madrone is an absolutely religious experience if you’ve never tried it.

I wish I was your neighbor too…

I’m definitely interested. Let me know if it’s green and you’ll be sealing it or it’s dried and not checked. I’m not sure my little bandsaw will be able to handle that size, but I can always pull out a hand saw. Let me know.

The cutoffs are green, waxed, and still in log form. We will be dimensioning the pieces Monday morning to fill what orders we have and shipping next week . Also note I have these various woods in 4/4 thru 16/4 air dried and or kilned dried ,cants, wide slabs, natural edge, etc…I just thought that there would be folks out there happy to make use of some high quality “scraps”.

I’d be interested in some miscellaneous “scraps” for turning projects.
