I would like to build a light duty overhead lumber rack. My idea is to hang it from the rafters with a hook system that will hook over the rafter then connect to a 2X6 built rack. The idea is to be moveable & adjustable. I hope I am being clear enough. My problem is finding a metal hook that will fit over a rafter board & bolt onto the rack system. Anyone know of a place I may find what I need?

You could make ‘em pretty easy.
You can buy flat stock at HD or Lowes in 1” or 1.5” wide and maybe 1/8 or 3/16” thick. Comes in about 3foot lengths.
Clamp it in a vise and heat it with a propane torch till it’s glowing red. Smack it with a hammer to make a squared-off “U” at one end that’ll be wide enough to hang on your rafter. Drill holes in the hanging end and attach your brackets to hold the arms to hold the planks you’re storing. Depending on how long the lumber to be stored is, you could make 3 or 4 to distribute the hanging weight.

That’s a great suggestion joein10asee. I will look into doing just that. Thank you
