I am fairly new at LJs and to woodworking as well. I have looked around at the existing forums here and found one on clamps in general, but it looks like it has been inactive for a while. So, I am starting my first new forum topic. I am preparing for my next woodworking project. I plan to build a Shaker bed. This will be the first project for which I need to be able to clamp something larger than my bar clamps can handle. I would like to see opinions on pipe clamps. At Rockler, I see the Sure-Foot Plus pipe clamps and the traditional orange Pony pipe clamps. Would anyone care to share any opinions on these clamps? Are there any others that I should consider? The Pony clamps are available in both 1/2” and 3/4”. Is there any reason to not get all 3/4” clamps other than the slightly lower price of the 1/2” clamps and pipes? Thank you. -- Chuck - Wood Chiseler's Rule #1: Mom was right - "Don't pick at it!" |
