Good Morning

A lot of you have been really “Nice” about the good fortune that I fell into the other day. Actually a large group of Lumber Jocks (and Janes) got together and took a group picture just to say good job!! :)

These same folks are wondering what I am going to do with this 500 bdft of Cherry that I fell into. What I want to do is ask you what I should make from some of this material. Then what I will do is to start a blog that will take you step by step through the project that YOU have decided I should make.

Knowing the type of projects that I like; Arts and Craft style; please share with me your idea of a good project. I will take a look at all of the ideas and I will take on the project that has the highest number of responses over the next 7 days.

Finally, I will take the project that I have completed and put it up for Auction to the public as well as here on Lumber-jocks for a 72 hour period. Not sure how I will do that yet but I will figure it out. So when giving me an idea of the project, do not make it so large that it can not be shipped reasonably cheap. Buyer agrees to also pay for shipping.

All proceeds will go to my local 4-H woodworking class so that they can purchase material and tools.

Thank you for participating. I think this will be fun!

That’s a classy idea, though you are still permeated in “suck.” :)

Seriously, I hope you don’t feel compelled to do this because we all “congratulated” you on your haul. Everybody here gets a “gloat” on occasion, and when that happens it must be reported…and we all get to tell you that you suck.

I suggest you make a stack of cherry for the 4-H club.

I’m with Rhett and Like…......donate it, or a decent portion of it, to the 4H club and work with them on a particular project.

I like the idea of building something and then auctioning it off because then you get to build something that is meaningful and thought inspired. However, I don’t have any good ideas for what to build.

Steve, you have made some great clocks and they would be shippable. You also mentioned making a piece for the original donor and that is something that I applaud. I don’t know the ability level of your 4H group, but that might not be the best use for the cherry. Make a nice project, auction it off and donate the proceeds to 4H. No matter what you do, however, you still suck. :D

This is such a great idea. I think the idea of donating some of the lumber is good…but have to agree with Art. I like your original idea better. Make something… Auction it off and donate the proceeds.

Projects??? I thought you’d have had mre suggestions by now. The clock idea is good. All my ideas are items too big. And probably stem from the projects I have a desire to make. Lol. I’ll have to come back with suggestions.

And… Yes… You still suck. But in a great way. Lol

Have your say...
