Anyone here ever used any black birch in their projects?

I cut down a few black birch trees last month; they were encroaching the very narrow trail to our cabin in NY. I’m thinking about building a “rustic” desk or table in the future and wondering if black birch would work for the legs. The trees are around 10’’ in diameter. I’m learning more about types of sawing and how wood ages and reacts to being sawn in different ways.

I’ve been reading Build a Classic Timber-Framed House by Jack Sobon and he says black birch is a very strong wood, even more so than oak. I’m just curious to how it ages.

I recently got a few large slabs of black birch, but put them aside as I have too many pieces of wood around to work on. They had several small bark inclusions scattered throughout the slabs. Each slab was big for a birch (24”-27”). I would like to see some finished wood if anyone has some.
