I am tuning up my Jet 6 in jointer (jj6csx?), and I would like to know if anyone else checks their boards against a straightedge after this type of operation? If so, what type of accuracy are you looking for?

I will have about 8 hours in this job before I am done and I bought the oneway gauge to help me get the setup right (Have tried every other method of setup, might as well try this one.)

On the last go round, I was getting about 8 thou concavity over a 3 foot board.

I am new enough that I don’t have a good feel for what is adequately “straight and square starting stock” and what is splitting academic hairs.

If this doesn’t work, I dont’ know what I am going to do. I would like to be able to joint a 6ft board and have it look good at some point with this joionter.

Thanks for the help.

Scott
