I bought a good deal of lumber from a cabinet maker going out of business and there were about 25 bd ft of the this wood. He remembers it being bocote, but wasn’t sure. It kind of looks like wenge to me, but I am not too familiar w/ exotics (not too familiar being not at all). It’s a very dense/heavy wood, seems to want to spinter easily, but also seems to work nicely (if that makes sense).

Hah, I wish max. I just put a piece by the window to get some natural light.

James, have you worked with both wedge and bocote? Just from looking at photos, they looks so close, so trying to differentiate.

800 bd ft of wenge? That’s crazier than a wenge window sill! Thanks for the feedback tony.

Yep…800.

All for someone who is willing to pay an ungodley amount of money for 2 sets of stair treads and 2 large landing plates.

From the sounds of it, I have some wenge

I averaged about $2/bdft on 200 bdft of this, some 4/4 walnut and mostly 8/4 curly cherry. Made him an offer on basically all he had left and he was happy to take it to avoid the hassle of Craigslist buyers.
