Well, I was able to get 5 old church pews for free.

They were in a partially disassembled state but contain some nice wood. The age was estimated by the church at around 75 years.

The backs of the pews are all about 13’6” long, 17.5” high and 3/4” thick.
The seats are glued up strips each about an inch wide and the full 13+ feet long

Here’s my problem.. I am a complete beginner. I don’t want to waste this wood, but I really have no idea of its value.

I’m wondering if I should just try to sell it as I don’t think I would use the full length and would be cutting it down if I used it and buy the wood I might need.

Any advice on the possible value or how to proceed would be appreciated.

Good score. Church pews are historically made out of top material.

I’d suggest seeing if you can find someone in your area that would swap your pew wood with some more usable stuff. Otherwise sell it. Either way you should come out on the positive side of the transaction.

Have your say...
