Lumberjoe, threw down a challenge for folks to turn a bowl using a faceplate and no chuck other day in another thread. Think point of the challenge mostly do not rely on chucks for everything you turn. If wrong no problem, anyway decided to take up his challenge.

Many ways to prepare a bowl blank before mounting on a faceplate, so chose easiest method for me. While bowl blank never made it to faceplate, hope pictures explain why.

Bill … I’ve had similar experiences. You get an ‘E’ for effort!

Hey Mike… just tell folks it’s a CUP HOLDER for one of those big plastic mugs with a handle :-)

Gee, Gerry flattered with a grade of “E.” Thank you!

Brandon, having a hard time resizing pictures using my Canon utility and uploading pictures at photo bucket even though procedures almost idiot proof. Bye-n-bye will figure out how to do it.

Mike, you can still salvage your project.

Half log with end checks & inclusion not best candidate for turning a bowl or bowls. Cutting into spindle blanks a better op because could end up with smaller. Do not have to be an expert looking at that log a bowl my trashy bowl blank already in the firewood bag.
