Craftsman table saw and Craftsman RAS for $250 plus the owner will include “various pieces of birch, maple, cherry and walnut laying around that you’re welcome to if you’ll take the saws off my hands.” A bit too far to justify the 14-hour round trip for me, but it looks pretty good for someone closer. Both units look to be in pretty good shape. Here’s the link.

I find it amazing that this person…for whatever reason… wants someone to “take it off his hands” and on the othe end of the spectrum you couldn’t pry my tools out of my hands.

@Greg—The owner doesn’t give a reason, but it may be that there’s some urgency to rid his shop of those tools.

If someone offered me a reasonable price on my tools (enough to buy suitable replacements), I would sell my tools. Of course, you’d have to know that I don’t have any tools that buyers would want to buy anyway!

I live in the LR area. Folks here seem to be of 2 camps:

1. They figure a 10% discount from new is what used tools go for. Or same price, but comment that “well, you are saving taxes” I figure it’s worth $100 for me not having to lift and move 300+ lbs of equipment by myself vs. having it show up at my door – and with a warranty, too.

I’m a factual kind of guy – and when I inform folks that new tools are available, shipped, for nearly what they are asking (and usually upgraded, too, like NOT having to remove surfact rust, replace blades, mobile bases included etc) folks seem to get offended and take offense.

2. Folks that have looked at stuff unused in their storage area and just are ready for it to be gone. These folks are hard to find and when they do post – it’s gone within the hour seemingly.

that looks to be a nice RAS for $100. the table saw is much less desireable.

Despite the saw being a Craftsman, $250 sounds like a good price. I don’t particularily care for that style of RAS because it has one more plane of motion unlike the straight arm type of RAS which is more rigid. I think I would buy just the table saw.

I saw that posting yesterday or the day before and I own that same table saw, and definitely don’t love it. The plastic cabinet cracked where it was bolted to the mobile base and the fence is hard to get square. That’s why I just upgraded to the Ridgid 3650. But the RAS might be nice to have, especially when the stock is a little big for the cross cut sled.

I learn something new every day. I’ve seen that table saw before and I thought it looked nice, but I see that at least two owners’ experience show that it doesn’t meet expectations. I’ll avoid future showings of that Craftsman model. BTW, I am not anti-Craftsman—my regular user table saw is a 113 model.

Thanks for sharing your experiences.
