i had one of those days today that i just have to share. I stopped by lowes just to look around. They had one of the Dewalt combo kits on clearance. It was a 18volt hammer drill/driver and circular saw combo. They had it listed at $184. I couldn’t find one so I asked a salesman, he said that the display was all that was left. They couldn’t find the case and one of the batteries was missing. So he gave me the drill, saw, charger, battery and a new battery in a package, minus the case, handle for the hammer drill, and saw blade, for..get this
$100.
I must have been living right or something lately. I learned you can deal with the big box stores when they are trying to get rid of last years models.

True. I have gotten in pretty good with the HD sales rep at the contractor counter and the Ryobi/Ridgid Rep (Ryobi/ Ridgid / Milwaukee are the same company, kind of like GM and Caddy). They have told me the tool company doesn’t want the old model on the shelf, and the box store is left with 2 choices, use the tool for the employees to assemble displays, which sometimes that is how they are redirected, or to get rid of them. So the tool rep calls me when a new model is coming out, and the contractor desk holds them for the school until I can look at them. Kind of nice. We ended up getting $200 Ridgid 18v nicad drills for $!00 last year, same price as we were paying for the ryobi’s.

I was able to pick up a Porter Cable biscuit jointer for $100. It was a display, minus the case, and dust bag.

I still haven’t gotten a dust bag for it and you have to pay attention were it is going to shoot the dust so you don’t end up eating it, but I’m still happy with it for the price!!!
