On my 14” Delta bandsaw , I am replacing my wheel bearings with new ones from Iturra Design. When I removed the lower axle, there were these 2 spring washers just loosely sitting in the middle of the axle. How do I correctly re-install them? What is their purpose?

My Iturra catalog says your bearing kit should come with photo directions.

IIRC, those are to provide a pre-load on the bearing; round middle parts should touch each other and the fingers point outwards away from each other like )( viewed from the side.

Cheers,
Brad

Thanks Jack and Brad, but what I still don’t understand is if each spring washer should be squeezed between the inner face of the bearing and the hub, or just freely spinning in the middle of the axle as I thought they were when I first removed the axle?
