Topic tags/keywords: question tip maple lathe finishing turning

I just turned a Maple bowl with a live edge for my wifey. She didn’t want anything but Walnut Oil for a finish, so that’s what I did. But I don’t know what I should use to finish the live edge bark…. never did it before. I thought about leaving it without a finish but figured it would just get knocked off or dry out and fall off in the long run.

Anyone have success with this?

Thanks to all LJ’s in advance! Ray

I have not turned any live edge, but many of the guys in our club have and most use CA to stabilize the bark.

I think you are right … without something to stabilize it, it will likely come off.
