Topic tags/keywords: finishing edge grain doug fir shellac varathane strip or plane

is shellac the best finish for bleacher boards = laminated edge grain doug fir.
i have a lot to do. i love varathane water based floor finish.
if i take my time i can plug the holes and you can’t even tell it . i like the yellowing of shellac
what is the best way and save some money.
i find it is best to run them thru the planner. i don’t know how they finished them when new.
had any one ever used a stripper and if so what kind.

Addressing the shellac only; if they are going to be used outside shellac is moisture sensitive even if top coated and may cause problems in that application. With regard to cleaning them up, IMHO I would stay away from chemical stripper.
