Topic tags/keywords: plywood cedar shop

Hi – I am in the bay area and can’t seem to find cedar plywood to match my shop. I have just extended it and want to match the weathered cedar. I realize it will take about a year or so for the new stuff to weather and match but I can’t find cedar plywood. I have found the knotty stuff but not not-less like the stuff in the pictures attached from 1976. I have looked at Sunnyvale, pinecone, empire lumber to name a few.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I think the one in Hayward is your best bet

Good luck on your search. It is going to be very hard to find a match for something made that long ago unless you are lucky. Perhaps a place that deals in recycled materials might be your best bet.

Most of the big home improvement stores in my area carry cedar faced ply. Maybe check there in your area.
Most of it turns a silver color with time if left alone.
You may also want to check out ebonizing or aging tricks that will speed up the match process.

Thanks all !

I cannot for the life of me find the correct number for KD Cedar in Hayward. All searches lead me to this number which is not KD lumber: +1 (510) 357-1063 . I wonder if they are out of business….

Next up is to try Nevada County Hardwood , which I will try this week. (gives me an excuse to go to tahoe too)

As for the big box stores, they definitely don’t have it and neither do the local lumber yards.

thanks again everyone

Just found this thread again. If you called that number and got Discerno Lumber Co, it’s the same place

If you’re on the west coast, look at some cypress ply and you might find a good enough match. Juniper might work also.
